Ramon GomezRamon Gomez Design Manager
Ramon Gomez never imagined that he’d make a career by designing wedding invitations for brides-to-be. He fell into the industry by chance while earning his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Irvine. Needing a part time job, Ramon applied at the 24 Hour Fitness, as well as Elements, the very cool stationery store right next to the gym. Fate stepped in when Elements hired him first. With limited skills, his only ability was to ring up customers, do an occasional gift wrap and assemble custom invitations. After being submersed in a world full of paper creativity, he moved up the ranks to become Elements lead designer. Four years later, he hung up his retail hat and began designing for Envelopments. 2012 Wedding Collection Pt. 3

It’s no secret that a marriage is a dance between two people. Sometimes you take the lead; other times it’s your partner’s turn. It’s not always about compromise, but it’s definitely about supporting each other. And just like every decision you’ll be making about your wedding day, designing your paper goods will be a pas [...]

2012 Wedding Collection Pt. 2

Long before booking your consultation with an Envelopments Dealer/Designer to create your perfect Wedding Ensemble, you should do a little homework. Be proactive and pick up a few bridal magazines and bookmark anything that catches your eye. Keep a folder of blog post print outs and wedding invitations you may have received in the mail. [...]

2012 Wedding Collection Pt. 1

Whenever I meet invitation designers, I often wonder about their business cards. No doubt, I’m curious about the stock they used, the print process they selected and the fonts they felt represented their creativity. But what I’ve been intrigued by most is their job title. Is she an “Artist” who paints or creates custom illustrations? [...]

Introducing the Trellis Collection featuring hand-painted artwork by Kristy Rice for Envelopments

When you’re shopping for a wedding dress, you may already have something in mind. You may not know which designer you’d be wearing, but you know you’ve got to have a sweet heart neck line, or a dramatic lace collar, or a sea of ruffles. When we started thinking about our 2012 Collection, we knew [...]

Holiday Inspiration Recap

Look no further for eye-catching holiday greeting cards, party invitations, custom postage and seasonal projects. Just in time for the season, we’d like to recap our favorite holiday inspirations to help you spread the cheer.

The Knot, Winter 2011 – Adele & Jeremy

Yes, you may be tying the knot in the winter season, but that doesn’t mean your invitations need to incorporate snowflakes or use holiday colors. Your wedding day is still about you and your fiancé, not about how many degrees the temperature dropped. In the Adele & Jeremy Featured Sample, seen in the winter edition [...]

Real Wedding: Kristin & Remi

Weddings have a way of bringing people together. Sometimes it’s a cousin from the opposite side of the country or the grandparents that are enjoying their retirement by traveling in Europe. Maybe it’s a college roommate that you haven’t seen since you graduation. For me, this wedding was about reuniting with a good friend that [...]

MSW Destination Inspiration

Before the start of the National Stationery Show 2011, we had the pleasure of meeting some of the wonderful women at Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. We toured the MSW headquarters, and to say that I was in awe would be an understatement. As a designer, I soaked up every square foot of the building. With [...]

Handmade with Love

It has officially begun. I’ve reached the age when all of my friends are pairing off and getting married. I’ve spent the majority of my 20s growing up with these friends and I’m honored not only to be a part of their upcoming celebrations, but also a part of their lives. I met Christine (known [...]

Get With the Program

Creating a coordinated paper ensemble is something we highly encourage at Envelopments. From soup to nuts, a cohesive design (which doesn’t have to mean matchy-matchy), will give your guests the impression that you’ve thought about ALL the details of your wedding. From your engagement party invitations to your save-the-dates, your wedding invitations to your place [...]

Love is in the Air (and in your mailbox)

Envelopments is proud to announce the release of our Wedding Collection of customized postage stamps on Zazzle.com/Envelopments. Sure, it barely covers 1 square inch of your [...]

Martha Stewart Weddings, Summer 2011 – Paulina & Walter

When we set out to design our ad for the summer edition of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, on newsstands now, we knew we had specific goals: 1) suggest the tone of a summer wedding, 2) include a project for the DIY bride, and 3) design something yummy. After tossing around ideas during a brainstorming session, [...]

You Say It’s Your Birthday

It’s a tradition that’s as old as you are. From the day you were born, your family began celebrating your life. And every year since, whether it’s with cake and ice cream, a backyard barbecue or the roast ‘n’ toast party celebrating a milestone age, there’s at least one thing to celebrate each year: your [...]

Baby Love, Pt. 2

The best thing about designing birth announcements and baby shower invitations is that the rules of etiquette, that traditionally apply to wedding invitations, don’t apply to these communiqués. You’re only limited by your own imagination (okay, and maybe a budget). You can use any theme, any color scheme, any combination of fonts. You can decide [...]

The Knot, Summer 2011 – Sarah & Edwynn

Say it loud, say it proud! When you’re about to make a commitment to the one that you love, you want to shout it from tallest building and let everyone know you’ve found The One. There’s no shortage of big impact in our Sarah & Edwynn Featured Sample. “Make Mine Bold.” When we set out [...]

Baby Love, Pt. 1

Perhaps you’ve planned this for months or even years. Maybe it’s an unexpected, yet oh-so-pleasant surprise. Or the agency called and the adoption is finalized. No matter how it came to be, it’s time to celebrate the addition of a new life to your growing family. Envelopments offers new ideas to let your nearest and [...]

Envelopments Gets Social

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been looking at our personal calendars, thinking about the baby shower we went to over the weekend, shopping for the upcoming birthday party and gathering inspiration for the graduation announcements for our neighbor’s daughter. Our conclusion? There’s always a reason to celebrate! We’re proud to announce the very first [...]

Meet our newest Designer: Lindsey

With a full year of growth ahead of us, we knew we needed more support within our Design Department. A few short weeks ago, we set out on a mission to find a new Graphic Design Assistant to add to our team. It had to be someone amazingly talented, uncanningly witty and committed to helping [...]

Envelopments Eyeball Ecstacy Pt. 2

We’re off to a soaring start this year at Envelopments. Last week, we released 8 new Featured Recipes and today we launch 8 more sumptuous treats. Over the past 7 days, we’ve designed new wedding ensembles, each with a different bride and groom in mind. While others in our office ended their day at 5pm, [...]

Envelopments Eyeball Ecstasy

With wedding season in full swing, we’re proud to introduce the Featured Samples from our 2011 Wedding Release. We’ve spent the past two months researching wedding trends, exploring our Design Decks on the conference table, purchasing gorgeous new fonts and designing our hearts out while burning the midnight oil. And when all things align, we [...]

MIX-AND-A-MINGLE

My favorite thing about the holidays is bringing people together. Whether it’s with coworkers or old college buddies, friends from the neighborhood or new acquaintances you met in line on black Friday – there’s nothing like coming together for a holiday mixer.  Since it’s an already hectic month of shopping, baking for the cookie exchange [...]

Happy Birthday Deborah!

Mazel Deborah! We hope that today is filled with as much fun and laughter as you bring to the company. Today we celebrate your inspirational creativity and your unparalleled wit. And for the record, we are listening when you speak; WE HEAR YA LOUD AND CLEAR! A few days ago, you “conicidentally” tweeted this: I [...]

Designer Wanted: We are HIRING

Envelopments is a design-driven company located in Santa Ana, CA. We are looking to expand our growing design department with a full-time designer who can creatively and innovatively contribute to our team. Our primary market is the wedding invitation industry, but our products can be used for any custom communiqué: birth announcements, bar/bat mitzvah invitations, [...]

Contain the Spirit of the Holidays

With the last bit of the leftover turkey from Thanksgiving dinner finally gone and the anxiety of Black Friday as a not-so-distant memory, we’re about to begin the last month of 2010. Although we’ve been thinking about the Holidays for months now, this past weekend I unpacked the holiday décor, hung my wreath and trimmed [...]

The wedding gift that wasn’t on my sister’s registry

When it comes to weddings, everything is about “the first”. The first time the groom sees his bride walking down the aisle in her wedding dress, the first kiss as husband and wife, the first dance at the reception in front of family and friends. These special moments come once in a lifetime. A few [...]

Learning to K.I.S.S. before the Holidays

One of the hardest things I’ve ever learned to do was to K.I.S.S. Doing it well requires restraint. When I first started to mature (as a designer), I was scared I wouldn’t be good at it. And with all the options here in the office, it was hard to perfect it. “Keep It Simple Stupid” [...]

Introducing New Envelopments Twist Cards

Last month, we gave you a peek into our workshop and revealed our processes of how we get into the holiday mood. The Envelopments elves have been working tirelessly and we’re proud to unveil our newest product for the holiday season. Our new Envelopments Twist Cards offer an interactive way to utilize two print panels. [...]

Mix and match templates

Enabling the institution of repeatable processes creates a streamlined system that saves time. Since there are never enough hours in a day, I’ve created my own personal system modeled after Garanimals, the line of children’s clothing that promotes mix and match separates. Admittedly, if I didn’t hit the snooze button so many times, I would [...]

Getting in the mood

It’s always an interesting process trying to get into the holiday spirit when its 95-degrees outside in sunny Southern California. It’s easier to make sand angels at the beach than snow angels on your front lawn. I wish I could throw on a scarf, gloves and pea coat to pretend it was December, but I [...]

Eat, drink and be married!

This past weekend, we said our farewells to Ms. Maria Leal (our Customer Development, Service Supervisor) and welcomed Mrs. Maria Huerta into our Envelopments family. Since we’re so accustomed to designing for imaginary couples, there was added pressure to design a wedding ensemble for one of our own. Nervous and excited, we wanted to create [...]

Envelopments has custom invitations cornered

Yes, I love the Grilled Chicken Pomodori Panini and I’d never pass up a bowl of their Roasted Tomato Basil Soup. But that’s not why I love Corner Bakery Café. From the personalized vintage inspired wallpaper that displays regional landmarks to the bags of chips that come with your meal, it’s very apparent that Corner [...]

Runaway Bride

In July 2008, Maria, our Supervisor of Customer Service, and Carlos, her boyfriend of 9 years, vacationed in Spain. Yes, she brought home souvenirs for her friends and family, but she also brought home a diamond, and a fiancé! The newly engaged couple set a wedding date in August of 2010, meaning the rest of [...]

Thanks-a-latte

A few months ago, we empowered our Envelopments staff to demonstrate their creativity. Employees from Operations to Administration, Customer Service to Business Development contributed their suggestions for new Color Concepts to publish with our newest product release. There were so many inspiring combinations, it was hard for the Design Department to reduce them down to gold, silver [...]

Summer with Martha Stewart Weddings magazine

Two of the hottest trends of 2010 include outdoor weddings and the use of green materials. So when it came time to design a new featured sample for the summer issue of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine (on newsstands now), we wanted to showcase several eco-friendly solutions to wedding invitations and favor boxes. One of our [...]

HOW to find inspiration in Denver

Earlier today, @HOWbrand tweeted: Every time you take a business trip, extend an extra half day to go see something. Without even realizing it, by day two of our trip, we were already following their advice by discovering inspiration throughout Denver before we found it at the How Design Conference.

ROLL-O-DECKS

Some accessories don’t serve a purpose other than to look pretty—a delicate silver necklace, a chunky vintage ring. Then there are pieces that perform double duty: the cashmere scarf that keeps you warm while adding a pop of color to your outfit, the oversized wrist watch that keeps you on schedule. When it came time [...]

HOW to be a fantastical designer

Just days ago, I returned home from a 10-day trip to New York for the National Stationery Show. If I didn’t have to do laundry, I wouldn’t even have unpacked, because this weekend (June 6-9) is the How Design Conference in Denver, Colorado. I couldn’t miss the opportunity to represent Envelopments, soak in some of [...]

Does this font make me look fat?

Its no secret that an invitations color story can convey the tone of the event. And obviously, the choice of wording can read either formal affair or casual celebration. But you may not realize that your selection of typefaces can just as easily support the notion of a black tie event or coastal chic attire. [...]

Who are we…?

The other day I received a request to be interviewed by Rochelle, an aspiring graphic design student back east. It was a nice surprise to get the request along with the flattery. …I was very excited to connect with someone from the Design Department at Envelopments as I think that your designs are cutting edge [...]
