My name is Kristy Rice and I am the artist behind Momental Designs. I call myself an invitation artist as it is my mission to transform stationery into art pieces that communicate joy with every glance or touch. As a self proclaimed Envelopments addict of sorts, I was thrilled when asked to come on board as a regular blogger! I plan to share my thoughts on color bravity and trends in context of the smashing design sensibilities that epitomize the spirit of the Envelopments paper collection.
Today I thought to share some of my favorite pieces where Envelopments papers are at the heart of the design.

Our painted Lotus pairs perfectly with Wicked, Champagnium and Ruby Cardstocks. Bold brushstrokes of soft blue acrylic pops against the shimmer stocks.
Tip: Swapping color order from piece to piece livens up any look but you can also experiment with layer sizes from invitation to table number as seen here.

Our Signature Hand Pressed Petal pattern is all about joy when paired with a 5×7 Signature Side Pocketfold® in Regalia Crème Brûlée. Shimmer inks in shades of olive, orange and aqua filled the pattern with lively strokes of color.
Tip: If you are working with a bold palette, calm your color fears with smart use of solids and matte paper finishes. Going all the way in each design element (pattern, color, shimmer, texture) can be too much of a good thing in some cases.

Here a 7×7 Pocketfold® is home to our Signature Hand Pressed Lacy pattern where each tiny bloom is painted in copper and pale pink shimmer inks. Ecru Micah, White Micah, Bronze and Pennyite papers create a rich palette of paper goodness.
Tip: Rich tones like Brown and Copper can be softened and made to feel lighter when set alongside large areas of white or ecru. This is a perfect approach when a more classic look is desired but within a less traditional color palette choice.

We love the wow factor Envelopments 6×9 Pcoketfold® brings to any design. This big presentation gives our watercolor peony artwork lots of room to move!
Tip: Reserve bright and bold colors for envelopes. This allows you to spread your color wings without committing to that shade everywhere!

Gorgeous as always Kristy!
These are beautiful!! I am curious if you what your process is . . . do you make a painting then bring it to the computer and reproduce? It looks like you finish some off with hand painted touches. Each one is just amazing! I would love to hear more about your process. Thanks for the samples. I am looking forward to hearing more about your work.
Thanks so much Phyllis, you are always so generous with your compliments!
Thanks for reading Tara! Our process ranges from original art reproduced and painted to entirely hand painted. For example the Lotus seen in this post was created using a vintage wooden stamp pressed into the paper then lavish painted strokes of color were added throughout. The only printing on these pieces were the text!
Thanks for the response! Again amazing work. Thanks for the inspiration!
